Overview
The client is a mail order firm in Sheffield and has an aging Sage installation and network. The client has grown over the last 2 years and now has several sales staff around the country selling in to small independent retailers. The client needed a new file server for better and faster access and security along with the ability for his sales force to gain access to email for order updates etc. Further to this the back up solution was flaky and one back up a month was the norm.

Solution
Direct Telecom listened to the client’s needs and requirements whilst also thinking carefully about future growth. The solution comprised of a new Dell File Server for standard office work. This then coupled to Microsoft’s Web Outlook Access so that the remote sales staff could then access their email, share calendar appointments and data. For data security Direct Telecom used remote back up for the client. This was decided due to the fact that there had been several break-ins recently and a file server could be replaced quite quickly but the data could not. The data is therefore stored centrally in a fully secure location safe from fire, theft and other damaging influences. The client is also given access to this data so in the event that a file is accidentally deleted the client can restore the previous days file within seconds.

Client Testimonial
We had expected there to be lots of disruption with the new server going in but it literally was a case of “ ok please reboot your systems and you are on the new server”. It was great, we noticed it was faster and the sales staff are more in touch with the office than ever and orders are getting sent out much quicker. This has also meant that our clients are spending more with us as they have more confidence in our ability.
