The following case study is a true representation of a project carried out recently for one of our clients.
Overview
The client was a small business based in Leeds trading in valve parts for high pressure hose assemblies. The company had three staff all working on laptops with no backup facility and no shared data areas. This caused concern for the client in that if one of the staff lost a laptop then the data stored there would be lost. This could be catastrophic as the accounts data was held on one of the laptops. Further to this the other main issue was that if one member of staff did a quote this data was not shared in case of enquiry whilst that member of staff was away from the office.
Solution
Through careful observation and communication Direct Telecom were able to build a cost effective solution for the client.
The solution consisted of a central data area consisting of a “terastation” this allowed all laptops to store data and accounts data centrally. The biggest benefit in this solution is that it had several drives arranged in a mirror so that even in the event that one drive went down there were other copies on live drives so that the client could carry on working without data loss.
